Understanding the Types of Marijuana

There are two main Types of Cannabis, Indica and Sativa, and a combination of both known as Hybrid. Each of these offering different physical and mental effects. Both of these strains exhibit different effects on the mind and body, so knowing what these strains are are beneficial in treatment.

INDICA

Cannabis has been used for many centuries and the benefits have resulted in better mental relaxation as well as physical effects, pain mediation, and insomnia relief.

The two major types of cannabis plants:
Indica and Sativa.

Indica strains usually have more CBD to THC  (Types of cannabinoids ) ratios and generally provide a sense of deep body relaxation.  Indica plants grow faster with greater yield than Sativa plants.

Indica Strains work best for patients who suffer from muscle spasms, chronic pain, anxiety and insomnia due to its sedative effects. This strain provides more of a calming effect due to higher concentrations of CBD vs THC. This strain helps decrease nausea and provides muscle relaxation. In addition it also helps stimulate appetite.

Sativa

Cannabinoids
Two primary cannabinoids in the medical pot plant are CBD (cannabidiol) and THC
(tetrahydrocannabinol)

1. THC- is psychoactive component of cannabis and gives the "high" you get from cannabis.

2. CBD-Responsible compound responsible for most of the therapeutic effects contributing to
medicinal properties of medical cannabis.

Sativa strains  on the otherhand usually have more THC to CBC ratios.
This plant generally grows taller and take longer to grow than Indica
Strains.

Sativa Strains have been proven beneficial for treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD, Migraines, Chronic pain, and nausea.

Sativa is best used during the day due to its uplifting effects. Due to higher amounts of THC, patients may experience more of a psychoactive feeling.
